It surprised no one that Anchorman 2 didn’t receive any nominations for this year’s Golden Globe awards. Regardless of how funny the movie may turn out to be (it doesn’t hit theaters until Dec. 18), awards shows have a history of snubbing raunchy, popular comedies (like those created by the Apatow gang) in favor of movies that don’t elicit laugh-out-loud moments in the movie theater.
But Judd Apatow, who produced Anchorman 2 and the TV show Girls (which did receive nods for best comedy series and best actress), has had it with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. This year American Hustle, Her, Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska and Wolf of Wall Street got nods in the best comedy or musical category—all deserving films, as Apatow says, but not hilarious ones. He took to Twitter to vent (and crack jokes at the Foreign Press Association’s expense).
