The 2012 action flick Jack Reacher is getting a sequel. Tom Cruise is developing the sequel to the first film, where he starred as the eponymous hero, a burly former military police officer-turned-drifter, Deadline reports.

The first film was an adaptation of the 2005 book One Shot, which is one of many in author Lee Child’s best-selling series about Reacher. The next film will be based on Child’s most recent book, Never Go Back.

The first film made $80 million in the U.S. but, despite middling reviews, managed to take in $218 million around the world.

i have always liked tom cruise in many of his movies and the thought of a jack reacher sequel is great news. i watched jack reacher an thought it may not be the kind of film that suited me BUT after watching it i was very impressed and would love to see a sequel. i wish i could find out more information on it and also does tom cruise have any comments on the sequel (personal views) would be interested to find out what he thinks about the character he plays.

I would be much more impressed by a man of Tom Cruise stature demolishing 4 guys than a man of

6' 5" beating 4 guys. If Lee Childs had the chance to rewrite the books I wonder if the character would remain 6' 5".I have read the books and I do enjoy them but I thought Cruise done an excellent job.

i am a huge fan of the books but was a bit skeptical about tom cruise playing reacher (as he is a short ass ) but he did an ok job of it , i think tom hardy or sam worthington would have been a better choice

MFREEMAN: I agree about the size of Jack Reacher based on the books, (and I'm not a fan of Cruise). Having read the entire series, I knew TC was a bad pick -for that- but a great pick to get more eyes to open up to the series. Like it or not, he has extreme worldwide appeal.

Once you got past the sizing issues, the movie as a whole was really good. It is rare when a movie can mimic nearly every sequence of the book upon which it is based. The Firm couldn't do this, and I could list plenty others as examples. The story line still kept me on the edge of my seat throughout, and I was very please with the adaptation. Looking forward to the sequel!

Tom is a 5-6" 150 pound middle aged man that is a bit feminine around the edges.  People would laugh at him in real life if he acted like this character.

I liked him in the first one.  What he lacks in height, he makes up for in attitude.

Good grief, Jack Reacher character is 6'5" and 250 lbs of  muscle with a iron head. Cruise just does not fit the character in the book. He was great in Top Gun, but sorry Tom, you can't size up to Reacher.
