Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson was rebranded as “Higella” by her ex-husband Charles Saatchi, in a bitter court hearing on Tuesday.
According to the Daily Mail, Saatchi claimed that Lawson was “off her head” on cocaine and prescription drugs every day for a decade, that she allowed her assistants to spend $487,000 on luxury travel and designer clothing, and that she poisoned their 19-year-old daughter with drugs as well.
The allegations emerged as Lawson prepared to testify against the “Grillo sisters,” two of her former assistants who are charged with defrauding the couple with massive expenditures on a company credit card. Saatchi came to their defense, claiming that Lawson might have approved of the spending spree as hush money to hide her addiction.
Saatchi and Lawson divorced shortly after a paparazzo photo surfaced in the tabloids, in which Saatchi appears to be gripping Lawson’s throat at a London restaurant.
