Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer

Turns out people love 50-year-old TV specials, claymation and luminescent deer even more than B-list celebrities trying to dance. CBS’ annual rebroadcast of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer — which originally aired in 1964 — topped Tuesday night TV, drawing a higher rating with the coveted 18-49 demographic than the jewel in ABC’s primetime crown, the finale of Dancing with the Stars, according to THR.

Though Rudolph often airs closer to Christmas (when it has to compete against fewer shows), the move to pre-Thanksgiving proved fruitful for CBS. Rudolph earned a 3.0 rating among adults 18-49, compared to DWTS‘ 2.5.
