Yahoo announced Monday journalist and television host Katie Couric will be joining its news division as Global Anchor.

CEO Marissa Mayer welcomed Couric in a blog post, calling her the new “Face of Yahoo News.” Couric joins Megan Liberman, Davide Pogue and Matt Bai, who will lead a team of correspondents beginning in early 2014.

“I have great admiration for Marissa Mayer and her team and their commitment to bringing news, entertainment and information to the Yahoo community across multiple platforms,” Couric said in a statement. “Joining Yahoo offers a tremendous opportunity to reach people all around the world in the way that they’re using and consuming media today.”

In addition to heading up the Yahoo News team, Couric will continue hosting her syndicated daytime talk show, Katie.
