People magazine declared Adam Levine the Sexiest Man Alive on Tuesday. Sorry, earth’s other 3.5 billion men, the decision is final.

The lead singer of Maroon 5 and coach on NBC’s series The Voice declared himself “amazed and stunned” to receive the news. “It almost seemed like they were kidding, but they weren’t, so that’s cool,” he told the magazine in this week’s cover story. Levine will join the ranks of George Clooney, Channing Tatum and Johnny Depp, among other past honorees.

The magazine identified a few contributing factors to his sex appeal: a yoga-tight body, a stable relationship with his fiancée, Victoria’s Secret model Behati Prinsloo, and a tendency to tear up at the movies. E.T. gets him every time.

Two of People’s executive editors conceded in a past blog post that the selection of Sexiest Man Alive is not exactly a scientific process. “It’s like falling in love,” they wrote. “You just know.”
