You’ve probably seen Disney’s classic Sleeping Beauty, but the studio is going back to the tale next year and taking a very different look at the story. In fact, the live-action Maleficent is named after the story’s wicked fairy godmother, who’ll be played by Angelina Jolie. If the animated version was about what happened “Once Upon a Dream,” this one looks more like a nightmare.
The movie also stars Elle Fanning as Princess Aurora and Brenton Thwaites (who’s also starring in 2014’s adaptation of The Giver) as Prince Phillip.
Maleficent is due in theaters on May 30, 2014.
