China Wants Jimmy Kimmel to Apologize… For a Third Time

First two apologies deemed insufficient

Protestors in San Francisco carry signs protesting late-night-show host Jimmy Kimmel on Oct. 28, 2013, after a child made an unscripted comment earlier this month about how the U.S. should "kill everyone in China"

ABC has already issued two public apologies over a racially insensitive Jimmy Kimmel Live sketch in which a child suggested the U.S. “kill everyone in China” to solve its debt problem in an unscripted moment, but that didn’t stop a Chinese official from demanding Monday that the network say sorry again — and this time, “with a sincere attitude.”

“ABC should face up to its mistake, and respond with a sincere attitude to the reasonable demands by Chinese people in America, and prevent a similar incident from occurring again,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said at a news conference, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The Oct. 16 sketch drew immediate public ire after Kimmel responded to the kid’s questionable debt solution by asking surrounding child actors, “OK, that’s an interesting idea… Should we allow the Chinese to live?”

ABC issued its first “sincere apology” on Oct. 28, noting that it would “never purposely do anything to upset the Chinese, Asian or other communities.” Kimmel also apologized on air and at a protest — which featured signs showing the talk show host sporting a Hitler-esque mustache — saying the clip should never have been aired.

The White House condemned the sketch in an online statement Nov. 7, after a petition against Kimmel garnered more than 100,000 signatures.

ABC apologized again Nov. 8.

Of course the Americans all defend Jimmy Kimmel and don't give a single thought to the Chinese people and randomly comment about wrongful statistics filled with hyperbole and sarcasm.

Yes, when we have people stripped and eaten alive we know to turn the cameras off.

...Seriously, is nobody going to admit that excluding all moral obligations to humanity, that response is extremely logical? The one quick way for America to get out of all of its debt is to go to war with China on some pretense, and kill them all--BINGO! Bye-bye debt.

It's totally wrong and twisted, but tell me that the solution wouldn't work.

If you want a real stupid child, teach him to "hate Life" -- to "kill", and stay forever confused and unhappy.

Political correctness sucks, pure and simple. If the Han Chinese are so patriotic and conservative to their nationality, why not learn how to ditch their heritage? I ditched my Filipino heritage six months ago and I don't care how my native peeps get insulted. Sheesh, get a grip.

There are a lot of people here who have no understanding of the context (there's that word!) of what it means to be a person of the Chinese diaspora—a product of hundreds of years of being shafted by rich, powerful white people from the other side of the world—at the butt of a joke made by a rich, powerful, white Westerner who is the focus of the attention of millions of people every night. This is a man, may I remind you, who convinces parents to deliberately deceive their children and film the outcome for everyone to laugh at.

To you, this may be a childish joke—oh don't kids say the darndest things!—but to a lot of Chinese people in America, it is further proof that to "regular" Americans, China is still a joke of a country and its people are still an undifferentiated, troublesome mass about whom we can casually joke about the annihilation of.

Despite having a Security Council seat, an outrageously successful Olympic Games under its belt, and a rover on the moon (as of December 14, 2013), China and the Chinese are still good to push to the ground and kick in the face to the cackles of children, unscripted and on the air—de rigueur for any international powerhouse that senses possible rivalry.

I'm pretty sure this has to be from The Onion. Nothing else makes any sense.

Oh for God's sakes, it was a joke. He's a comedian. The Chinese need to develop a sense of humor.

This is a new concept that self have leant from so funny KIDS TABLE is to finish the debts then to make the creditors be finished, instead of try all best efforts to pay off.  What kind of such good thinking!?  Please do forget that 9 out of 10 in China who are living in poverty but stil contributing a lot to PRC.  So the state enterprises / state banks can buy a lot of US debts and keep huge number of US people's living standard.  An excellent suggestion was come that to help all Chinese lives including those 90% getting rid of this world.  GOD BLESS AMERICA...

I watched the sketch and Kimmel was clearly not condoning the statement made...by a child. The child proposed it as a response to a "them vs us" issue - never was it said that Chinese people are by any means inferior. Nor was there was any mention of anything that could have extended to American Chinese people ( one of the children at the table being an Asian American).

The only thing that suggests an inferiority complex of any sort is the fact that these protestors appear to be unable to take a joke and have reacted by throwing a tantrum. Kimmel did not make me feel bad about being Chinese in the slightest, but these protestors have.

I got to admit the picture with Kimmel with the Hitler mustache is funny. Not funny when the joke is turned around is it?

The sincere apoligy is to fire this guy who is not smart anyway. Otherwise, ABC is playing game. Sooner or later, that game will hurt ABC (Disney). I won't spend a dime on any of their products, or even a second on ABC's TV.

Read ABC/Disney organization chart below. There are two very high level Asian/Chinese American executives. Is it possible that an internal feud within ABC/Disney prompted some redneck executives to hide behind the mask of a six year old and spread the racial hate language in order to ruin the feeling, advancement and career of other two Asian/Chinese American executives? Up to now we still do not know who is the ultimate responsible executive who approved the airing of this per-recorded and rehearsed skit. Toni Braxton was coached and who coached him and who approve the script? This is the area that Chinese Americans should concentrate on to find out. Instead of making useless protests and be mocked and laughed by the racist rednecks, Chinese American organizations should hire a  team of lawyers and start to prosecute the offenders. America is the land of law and people respect its power, Chinese Americans are yet to learn the lesson since the last "Chinese Exclusion Act. Wake up guys!! Be doers and not cry babies!!

Replace the word "Chinese" to "Jews", then see what happen. Dare to test this version?

The constitution is ironic. If all men were created equal then there would be no need for it. It would just be. There would be no protests because according to the constitution all men are created equal. That is why protesting does not bring about equality. If you bought out ABC then you you would have equality but then you would have Americans protesting your purchase because it would be un American. You see this will never end because there will never be true equality. ABC was wrong to air kill everyone in china but people from all over say things like this all the time. This will never change. People have the freedom to say and think what they want but it should not be aired. People have the right to protest and people have the right to protest the protests. This is America the land of the free where everyone is created equal. The great ironic fantasy that we so much want all to believe

The protesters do not realise that nothing will really change. This will pass and everything will go back to the way it was. Man is not created equal. Just look around your little world. Some people are smarter, richer, better looking, have better jobs, houses etc. If we were all equal then everyone would have the same and there would be no conflict. We should embrace inequality instead of fighting it. We are not all arrogant racists filled with hatred. This administration has failed us on the jobs, foriegn policy and now health care. These protests are a distraction so that we do not talk about real problems. Discrimination has always existed and will always exist. It is who we are as humans. It comes down to money and power, rich or poor. Color and race is secondary.

@TwelfthMan You can't force an apology, and you can't force honesty when by 'honesty' you mean a lie.

TwelfthMan

@TicTac 'Not condoning it' is nowhere near good enough an apology when someone uttered the words 'kill them all' in one's namesake programme.

Whatever bloody complex we have, we do deserve a honest apology. And since you're so worried about the debts, may I suggest you US citizens start paying more tax, and start paying us the money you owed?

Openminded1

@wulin.teo  Then all the Jewish lawyers will sue the offenders and not only make the offenders bankrupt and also in prison. That is the lesson that Chinese Americans should learn.

@Peaceman The key word you use is freedom. something we have in the USA. But china does not, the commies would have put Kimmel in prison if he was there. That is why we live here and not in commie china.

Awakening

@Peaceman So your suggestion is that Chinese Americans should just take this hate crime, since all men are not created equal. Where did you get this incredulous idea? Our constitution says all men are created equal! Since there are more important things to be taken cares of, therefore Chinese Americans as a sub species citizen can wait until they all get annihilated? Is that what you are saying? Do you believe in all mighty God and his judgement on a nation that violates of His laws? Try to read Rabbi Johnathan Cahn's Harbinger, the NY Times best seller, perhaps you'll get  a clue why we all should not condone this kind of violence act.
