The White House on Sept. 30, 2013.

President Barack Obama won’t be calling a press conference to discuss Jimmy Kimmel’s recent Kids Table debacle that included a youngster suggesting we “kill everyone in China.” But the White House will post an online response to the situation today after a petition protesting Jimmy Kimmel Live reached 100,000 signatures within 30 days.

The Oct. 16 broadcast has brought the wrong kind of attention to ABC’s late-night talk show. It was during a segment that had Kimmel asking a group of youngsters their thoughts on pressing worldwide issues — specifically, how they would handle the $1 trillion-plus bill the U.S. owes China — that the unfortunate remark was uttered.

“The kids might not know anything better. However, Jimmy Kimmel and ABC’s management are adults. They had a choice not to air this racist program, which promotes racial hatred,” says the petition. The petition calls for a sincere apology and for ABC to cut the segment from future airings.  The network issued a statement that they had already complied, adding “We would never purposefully broadcast anything to upset the Chinese community, Asian community, anyone of Chinese descent or any community at large.”

Kimmel has also personally apologized to protestors outside his studio.

With all these mea culpas, it will be interesting to see what the White House adds to the conversation.

If you want a real stupid child, teach him to "hate Life" -- to "kill", and stay forever unhappy.

Where does it say the White House will respond online? All over the news it says that, but I don't see it. A photo of the White House is not a citation.

It appears that the attitude of Time Magazine is the same as that of Jimmy Kimmel.  He said he was sorry not for what he did but for the Chinese-Americans not getting his joke.  So will Time magazine publish the same defensive talk after Kimmel airs another script of a kid saying "Kill all Jews" for their control of Hollywood?  How about that as a joke?  Call it freedom of expression and show your toughness.

This is not the first time Hollywood has deliberately incited hatred against another nation. Back in 2000 Hollywood actually honored the writers of one TV show with an award for inciting hatred against a peaceful, kind, multicultural nation -- yeah -- Canada!

However, next to America, with no nuclear weapons - what could we do? Nothing - no protests - we could only say - sorry.

First it starts with a joke - "Blame Canada" they sang - but we still live in fear that one day they will attack us.

-just look at some of the lyrics to

-- Blame Canada ---

"Should we blame the government?
Or blame society?
Or should we blame the images on TV?

No, blame Canada, blame Canada
With all their beady little eyes
And flappin' heads so full of lies

Blame Canada, blame Canada
We need to form a full assault
It's Canada's fault"

Does that sound like neighborly? I don't think so.!

Jimmy Kimmel Live is not really live. It is a pre-recorded program, reviewed and approved by ABC management team. The kid's words were not petent of that kid, but petented by ABC program writer. It was programmed, rehearsed, selected (among many others), reviewed, and finally approved to broadcast. Can anyone understand the procedure? That is the SOP (standard operating procedure) of ABC!

It's extremely disgusting to coach the kid to say "kill all xxxxxx".Jimmy Kimmel and his team coached the kids say killing, and effectively influence all US kids to think killing is an interesting idea. If one hears more killing in US school, don't be surprised, as many supported the killing program here.

Don't teach kids killing, but love, ABC and Jimmy Kimmel need apologize sincerely and Jimmy Kimmel should be fired.

It is not just a child's wrong idea. Every child is influenced by adults. Whoever teach a child to kill should be blamed. There are already too many school shootings! If nobody is blamed for this show, we are encouraging more school shootings. Do you want your child killed in school?

Please, the news does not point out is, Jimmy Kimmel thinks he is sorry that the Chinese donot get the joke not apologies for what he did.

I will boycott ABC and Disney until they make an official statement that this kind of 'incident' will never happen again. ABC already broke the law with FCC, which has strict regulations about what can be aired, that certainly excludes racism comments, hate speech, any ideas of genocide in any forms of conversations including jokes. I am sure ABC intentionally broadcasted the show, and scapegoating China. As a Chinese, I am very offended by such a verbal cruelty coming from one of largest media network. It only shows how stupid they are as network executives. I hope in light of celebrating thanksgiving, these executives along with Jimmy kimmel, asked themselves, whether or not they enjoy building their pleasures over other people's pains. Obviously, they are all morally corrupted.

Their act of choosing to air the show, and their insincere apologies only show they are bunch of cowards. The whole thing is inhumane in so many levels. Really shame on ABC and Disney. I will boycott both of them from now on.

Why this is more than a joke:

1.            Irresponsible to our young generation by encouraging a clear bloodthirsty way to solve a problem, do we need more school shootings?

2.           A popular culture of hatred toward a group of people does lead to loss of life, case in point: Murder of Vincent Chin, do we need more hate crimes?

3.            Genocide did happen throughout history

4.            US does have capability to kill everyone in China

Good, this incident will set a higher threshold for future perpetrators who has the latent tendence to tell Genocide jokes on national networks.BTW, none of the apologies issued by either Jimmy or ABC is mea culpa style. Instead, they are defensive, i.e., I didn't intend to do that, but if you're offended, I'm sorry (meaning, I didn't do anything wrong, it is you who didn't understand correctly).

I can take a joke, but not something that may result in hurting my family, especially my kids. Adults should stop putting wrong ideas into kids' head. They may take this "joke" as an acquiesce for bullying Chinese or Asians at school.

Should we teach kids more responsiblities, not use kids to promote violence, which is not america value and culture

Every article you read, Jimmy Kimmel has "apologized", which is not quite true. He was only apologizing to "distressed individuals" who don't understand his humor, "I don't know what's going on in your life", clearly he think these people have some personal problem and took it to him, which is not the case.

1)The talk of killing is and should never be a joke, especially a show that was scripted, recorded, and edited by teams of media professionals, overseers, and then broadcasted nationwide.

2)China only holds a little more than 7% of the total US debt, and an average Chinese holds about $1000 US debt which is far lower than a Japanese for about $5000, similarly Brits, Arabs and  American, it would make a lot more sense practicing violence against other US bond holders first instead of scapegoating Chinese.

3)Chinese Americans responded the way they did for a good reason because JK and ABC will not select to advocate killing all Jewish people for holding US bonds and they know they will not get away with it.

4)Chinese need to boycott ABC’s mother company Disney at its new theme parks at Hongkong and Shanghai, and let them know that it is never ok to advocate killing Chinese or ppl of any other race.

@jollyshi You're right. While we're at it, how about we boycott Comedy Central for that South Park show.  One character, in particular, Eric Cartman, is an extreme racist that has been shown time and time again to get away with his behaviour.  I recall a recent episode had them making fun of that entire George Zimmerman debacle and playing off the event with the charactere Eric Cartman, an elementary schooler, using the stand your ground law to shoot a fellow classmate.  What's more is that this show, being scripted, represents the viewpoints of the writers, producers, and broadcasters entirely.  It is obvious that the adults behind this are trying to encourage us to have children shoot each other everytime they feel threatened as opposed to handling the situation peacefully.

@Dr.Real

If your neighbor's son came and told you 'jokingly' "I am going to kill you all!". Then the father said to his son, 'mm, That is an interesting idea! Shall we allow them to live?" And if you still think there is nothing wrong, then something is seriously wrong with your moral value.

@Dr.Real OMG, YOU ARE SUPPER SMART! YOUR PARENTS MUST BE REALLY PROUD OF YOU!!

@justanotherid If more than 100,000 people didn't understand his humor and felt offensive, Mr. Kimmel should think seriously if it is him who may have some personal problems.

@AlexSun I'm excited to see similar protests from Chinese immigrants against the crimes of the Communist Party. With a long history of imprisonment, brutal torture and murder of their own people I trust American Chinese will fight as vigorously against Chinese Communist Party Officials, boycott Party Controlled-companies and call for the international prosecution of those Party Officials that have carried out crimes under international law against the Chinese people.
