George Strait — in the middle of what he insists is a farewell tour — won Entertainer of the Year at last night’s Country Music Association awards show, held in Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena. The 61-year-old Strait beat out several younger performers, including 23-year-old Taylor Swift, for the CMA’s top honor.  And there seems to be twin dynasties in the making as Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert took home Male Vocalist and Female Vocalist awards — the fourth consecutive time for both partners in country’s reigning power couple.

Country’s new generation was well represented by Kacey Musgraves — the 25-year-old singer-songwriter was nominated in six categories and earned New Artist of the Year.
