Caroline Hirsch, the comedy maven behind Carolines on Broadway and the New York Comedy Festival (which begins today), recently sat down with TIME to discuss the way that the business has changed in the decade that the festival has been an annual event. The topic of hecklers came up — and even though it didn’t quite fit in with the overall theme of the discussion, this outtake is worth its own look.
Hecklers, Hirsch thinks, disrupt comedy shows because they think they’re funny too…but, as one heckler at her club recently found out, someone else in the audience might be even funnier.
