There have been a lot of movies about Vegas bachelor parties gone awry, but this one tops ‘em all. (Thank goodness that, unlike the party in Very Bad Things, this one involves no dead hookers.) Our “wolf pack” of arrested adolescents travels to Sin City and wakes up to discover that the bridegroom and one tooth are missing, though newly present are one baby and one tiger. The adventure of retracing their steps to figure out what happened turns out to be just as lively and shocking as the previous night’s drunken escapades, thanks in part to appearances by a naked Ken Jeong and a clothed Mike Tyson.
Aside from friendship with the groom, this pack doesn’t have a lot in common. Bradley Cooper is the cocky one, Ed Helms the uptight one, and Zach Galifianakis (in his star-making performance) the unpredictable one. His man-child Alan, who might do or say anything at any time, is the wild card that keeps this game interesting; unexpectedly, he’s also the moral center, the glue that holds this unlikely trio together. Apparently this out-of-control weekend was such a fun male-bonding experience that the guys all wanted to do it again, twice more, even though, in real life, the horrific shared experiences would give any of these guys an excuse never to speak to each other again.
