New Hampshire waitress Sarah Hoidahl just wanted to do something nice for two National Guard soldiers affected by the government shutdown, so she picked up their $27.75 lunch tab.

On Friday, Ellen DeGeneres paid her the $27.75 back in cash, and threw in a $10,000 check and a 50-inch TV, the Associated Press reports.

“You’re a good person,” DeGeneres said on her show, as Hoidahl was overcome with emotion.

If they were so affected by the shutdown, why were they out to eat?

I believe people should be repaid for their kindness, but honestly... How about giving this amount of money to people who are really affected by the government shutdown who couldn't afford to pay their bills!!!! Give me a break!
