Damian Lewis as Nicholas "Nick" Brody in 'Homeland'

Don’t want to wait a full week for more Homeland? You’re in luck: the show has taken the unusual step of releasing extra content immediately after the airing of this week’s episode—and the even more unusual step of releasing that content as an audio book.

Here’s how it works: Showtime paired up with Audible to create a free download of a 30-minute original story that would be available (on Audible.com) right after the Oct. 13 episode. The story, “Phantom Pain” by Glenn Gers, is narrated in character by Damian Lewis, who plays Nicholas Brody. The story begins at the end of last season and is meant to be a letter to Carrie, telling of how the fugitive Brody escaped pursuit [SPOILER: by land and sea!]—and what he’s been thinking about Carrie.

“The Audible Homeland story has allowed my character,  Nick Brody, to forge a more intimate and personal connection with the show’s fans, adding additional layers and depth to the plot points unveiled this season,” Damian Lewis said in a statement about the project.

There are to be two more Homeland stories—one featuring Claire Danes as Carrie—released later in the season.
