Kanye to Kimmel: I Would Be Lying If I Didn’t Call Myself a Creative Genius

The rapper and late show host make amends following a heated Twitter battle

Tensions were high on Jimmy Kimmel Live  as the late show host eased into a reconciliation with Kanye West following their celebrity Twitter tussle.

Kimmel seemed to be pulling teeth — or a grill — when he asked West about their feud, which began last month when the late show spoofed West’s recent BBC interview, casting children as both the rapper and Radio 1 host Zane Lowe. Kimmel said he parodied the interview because he liked to see kids curse — not because he equated West with a child.

Yeezy then admitted ego played a part in the online battle and added, “we kind of just took it back to high school for a bit.”

“I got beat up a lot in high school so I didn’t want to go back to high school,” Kimmel quipped.

But lighthearted détente quickly turned into a conversation about celebrity scrutiny, with the late show host accusing West of bringing it on himself. “A lot of people think you’re a jerk,” he added playfully, before conceding that West had a softer side.

Further extending the olive branch, Kimmel gifted West with toddler leather jogging pants — a reference to the knock he made on the rapper when mocking the BBC interview.

Not that West dwelled too much on their peace-making.  Instead, he talked about his favorite topics — his talent and passion for fashion. He told Kimmel he would be lying if he didn’t call himself a “creative genius.”

“You’re going to love me or you’re going to hate me,” West concluded, “But I’m going to be me.”

A talkative Kanye kept it up until the end the show, meaning the show ran so long that late-night host had to skip over a performance from the Arctic Monkeys — not to mention Matt Damon, who Kimmel never has time for, per a longtime inside joke.

Jimmy Kimmel this show was a total waste of time, it was painful to listen to the dialog.

He must have a magic mirror, a creative genius with nothing to offer.

To be fair, he's a genius. shouting it from the rooftops: It got nothing got to do with. James Watson and Richard Feynman never stopped self promoting; doesn't mean they weren't geniuses.

Never heard his music and have zero desire to do so.

Creative geniuses just don't really call themselves creative geniuses in public. Plenty of other people will do that if it's true.  By the way.....I don't love you or hate you. I ignore you.
