If you put together, off the top of your head, a list of celebrity couples—two famous people, either married or dating—ranked by combined earnings, you’d probably end up with a list pretty similar to the one just released by Forbes.

That is to say, it should come as no surprise that Jay Z and Beyoncé Knowles topped the list, having made about $95 million between June 2012 and June 2013. Their sources of income include endeavors like album releases, touring, an interest in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn (until recently), a sports agency and tie-in clothes and fragrances.

Their dominance isn’t just a matter of pocket change, either. At No. 2, Tom Brady and Gisele Bundchen were $15 million behind. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt came in third with a relatively paltry (not really paltry at all) yearly income of $50 million. As Forbes notes, Jolie and Pitt have made lots of money from their primary careers—acting— and are extremely visible as a couple but, unlike the Carter-Knowles and Brady-Bundchen clans, they don’t have a lot of money coming in from side businesses.

The other top-earning couples were Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis ($35 million) and Kanye West and Kim Kardashian ($30 million).

Though the Jay Z and Beyoncé dominance of this list is totally unsurprising, the list does underscore one of the more interesting factoids about celebrity earnings, something that’s even more clear on Forbes‘ rankings of individual celebrity wealth: appearing in movies may bring you fame, but it’s the combination of music and merchandise that really brings home the bacon.
