Quite a few people were none to pleased with Miley Cyrus’s raunchy VMA’s performance. And at least 150 people asked the government to do something about it.
The FCC released the complaints Friday in response to Freedom of Information Act requests from multiple news sources, including The Smoking Gun. Because the Video Music Awards aired on MTV, a cable channel, the FCC does not have the authority to penalize the show. But statements in some of these complaints from around the country are plenty punishment enough.
A few examples:
“Miley Cyrus needs to be detoxed from her behavior, her clothing, her dance moves, and taught how to keep her tongue in her mouth. I suggest 12 months in a convent!
“How is it possible that you threw a coniption [sic] fit over Janey Jackson’s nipple slip and yet I was subjugated to 4 minutes of Miley Cyrus last night?
“GOD HELP THIS NATION”
“The Miley Cyrus performance was very pornographic and should not have been on TV. She had multiple very indecent sexual poses and gestures, from grabbing her crouch, using a foam finger like a dildo, and licking the butt of a stuff bear in a sexual manner.”
“Singer Miley Cyrus performed an act on live TV during primetime that was offensive, obscene and appeared to appeal to the Pedophile audience… My family was horrified by this performance.”
