Leslie Moonves, right, and Julie Chen arrive at CBS's 1st National TV Dinner Night at the CBS Radford Studios on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013 in Los Angeles.

Famed TV host and news anchor Julie Chen came clean about an operation she underwent many years ago after bearing the brunt of a racist remark from an employer. On Wednesday, the host of The Talk disclosed that she went under the knife aged 25 after her boss at an Ohio TV station said she would never be a news anchor because of her facial features.

“He said ‘you will never be on this anchor desk because you’re Chinese,’” said Chen.

During Wednesday’s broadcast, the 43-year-old admitted that her career did accelerate after the cosmetic operation to widen her eyes, but conceded that she wondered, “if she gave into the man.” Nevertheless, Chen said she has no regrets about her decision and remains proud of her Chinese heritage.

Let's just hope 12 year olds don't get the desire to change their faces and bodies because of issues like these. We all look different and that's the way God created us. I assume he had a reason for that...

I doubt her story, she was a nice looking women before the surgery, and all over this country there are Asian anchors and news reporters. There is very little racism towards Asians in this country. It sounded more like her own insecurities.

Nonsense.  All kinds of people in her industry get plastic surgery -- to change their noses, chins, hairllines, lips, etc.  She just did what countless other men and women in the entertainment industry do (after all news casters are primarily entertainers these days).

She chose to alter her appearance in order to further her career. I would say it was ambition rather than racism.  Like it or not physical appearance is a deciding factor in the TV industry and she decided to alter her's in order to make it in the business. I don't blame her for having the surgeries but she should be honest about what motivated for her choices.

She shouldn't blame someone else for her own insecurities. Instead of caving in, she should have stood proud. Basically, she just let that other guy win and prove to him how right he was.

It's easy to talk about your regret of an action long after you've reaped the rewards from it.

Did "racism" force her to get at least 1 nose job too?
