Miley Cyrus was just breaking the ice with her raunchy VMA performance last month. Her latest music video, for “Wrecking Ball,” is an erotic ode to lost love, complete with nude shots and sensual licking of a sledgehammer.
The 20-year-old former Disney Channel star is the only performer in the video, released Monday on the music video site Vevo. She opens the clip tearfully gazing into the camera before completely undressing (from an already scant white tank top and panties) and swinging naked on the wrecking ball.
The lyrics of true love lost may be directed at on-again-off-again fiancé, actor Liam Hemsworth, says the New York Daily News. Us Weekly reported that insiders are saying the actor wanted a “clean break” after what he considered Cyrus’s “mortifying” performance at the VMAs, though others say Hemsworth is not the target of the passionate lyrics.
