X-Files at 20
This is the absolute best list of X-Files episodes I've read online or otherwise. Shows the author put some effort into it and I like how its not a Top Ten but instead its broken into categories.I also like the later seasons were mentioned with "Best Post-Mulder Episode". I dig that episode, though a close contender would be "John Doe."
Best guest star - what about Michael McKean in Dreamland? He's awesome playing Mulder. Great writing in that episode too. Also what about The Post-Modern Prometheus for best stand-alone ep? I think that's a really touching episode.
I wud pick "Never Again" or "Beyond The Sea" as best Scully-centric episode .. where we could see the inner turmoils of Dana Scully .. and as villain Tooms is good coice but I think Pusher is the best .. he was smartest motw n definitely CSM
I think "Beyond the Sea" should have gotten a mention. That's the first episode I feel like we really got to see Scully wrestle with her skepticism. Plus, it was sufficiently creepy.
I'm fine with your choices, but I would chosen (off the top of my head): "Jose Chung's From Outer Space" for most imaginative ep, "The Erlenmeyer Flask" for best mythology ep, and CSM for best villain.
like Catherine replied I am blown away that you can get paid $6328 in a few weeks on the internet. from this source .== > www.Bay93.ℂom
Interesting choices. The episodes listed don't usually get a lot of love in "best of" lists, so you get points for making original choices. I would've chosen "Milagro" for best Scully episode though. Loved this show!
I would have to say the most horrific episode of the X-Files should have been "Home". I still cannot watch it without wanting to wash my eyeballs
@AndyHalleen Thanks Andy. "John Doe" is a stellar episode. But as for chills, "Via Negativa" still keeps me up at night.
@flamingogirl63 Absolutely. The opening still creeps me out with the ghost of her father. It was really between "Sea" and "One Breath" for me.
@giantsloar "Jose Chung" is great, absolutely wonderful. Another episode I mulled over, same deal for CSM, but his storyline felt so fractured over the years. Do you like "Musings of a Cigarette Smoking Man"? I've always been pretty partial to that episode.
@girl_from_bklyn I totally agree with you. "Milagro" is an excellent ep.
@girl_from_bklyn I had "Milagro" on my shortlist. A definitive episode for sure.
@tbanks1202 I wouldn't really disagree with you, either. (It was my second choice, actually.) But my problem with 'Home' is that there are these weird, campy elements and I don't think it's aged as well as "Irresistible". The jovial vibe to Mulder and Scully near the episode's climax has always thrown me off, too. Still, it's no doubt a terrifying piece of television, especially that scene with the Sheriff and...what's under the bed. I'm getting shivers thinking about it.
@johnbenwoo I love 'Small Potatoes' but I couldn't ignore Luke Wilson and that Shaft scene. I actually had Season 7's 'Je Souhaite' originally, but shifted that back. If you haven't seen that, I recommend it!
@MichaelRoffman @giantsloar It's been 17 years since I saw "Musings," so my memory of it is a little vague, to be honest. At some point I should re-watch the series. My all-time favorite episode is still "The Erlenmeyer Flask." It's just a mind-blowing episode with such incredible scenes. We saw the death of Deep Throat... Scully guessing her way into the government facility ("...Purity Control"), Scully lifting the alien fetus out of the cryo-container... This was when the X-Files felt so new, so real, so dangerous, so monumental.
A few other favorites of mine that haven't been mentioned: Humbug, Beyond The Sea, Ice, The Field Where I Died, and Dod Kalm (yes, I know that is kind of left-field) (and yes, I do lean toward the earlier episodes).
