He’s back: RoboCop — the robotic law-enforcement agent who spawned a series of action hits in the late ’80s and early ’90s — is getting another remake treatment.

Lots of the film’s elements will be familiar to fans of the original: he’s still a near-dead police officer encased in an armored body, he still patrols a futuristic Detroit where a megacorporation reigns supreme, he’s still got that trademark eye slit in his helmet. This time, however, Joel Kinnaman (The Killing) is the armored cop. The movie also stars Samuel L. Jackson, Gary Oldman, Michael Keaton and Abbie Cornish.

The plot may also sound familiar to those who aren’t familiar with RoboCop’s previous adventures: at first people think robots can do a more efficient crime-fighting job than people can, but then the robot’s creators learn they can’t control the machine. That déjà vu might be because it sounds sort of like what we know about the next Avengers movie plot—except this time the robot skews good rather than evil.

RoboCop is due in theaters Feb. 7, 2014.
