Gia Allemand, who appeared on season 14 of ABC’s hit reality show The Bachelor, died after being removed from life support at a New Orleans hospital.

The former swimsuit model and professional ballet dancer was rushed to University Hospital on Monday after she was discovered unconscious by her boyfriend Ryan Anderson, a player on the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans.  Allemand was listed in critical condition after suffering from what family members initially called “a serious emergency medical event.”

In a statement issued this afternoon, the family disclosed that the 29-year-old ultimately succumbed to a suicide attempt. According to the statement, Allemand died “peacefully with her mother, boyfriend and other lifelong friends by her side.”
