Whitney Houston died, at age 48, on February 11, 2012. She passed away on the eve of that year’s Grammy Awards show: As music prepared to celebrate it’s best, the world lost one of the greatest voices ever known.
Houston was one of the biggest stars on the planet. She set sales record after sales record. While the numbers she earned during her career are impressive with over 200 million of her records sold worldwide, multiple diamond and platinum selling albums, chart-topping singles and a 2009 Guinness World Records as the most awarded female act of all time, it’s her voice that fans will remember.
The iconic singer, actress and producer would have celebrated her 50th birthday on Friday, August 9. In tribute to her lasting impact on pop music we take a look back at an impressive career that spanned more than three decades. She is greatly missed.
