This song captures all the dreams of a young boy, and at the same our own dreams to live a new life, to discover a world. This song is another gem penned by Roger Hodgson which makes me dream and fly, and cross the water... These and many more positive feelings are floating in the air when you attend a Roger's show. Check his Tour dates at his website and look for the one fits better for you and don't hesitate, go and see him! The best show ever!!!!

Coincidently, Roger's current tour is named 2013 Roger Hodgson "Breakfast in America" World Tour.......  What timing!!!!

If you're looking for a great song about America that isn't as antiquated from a critically acclaimed artist from Austin, check out "Carry Me Like the Wind" by David Ramirez. This is just one of the great tunes from his album, American Soil.

Hendrix???.... oh, right, this is Time Magzine isn't it....

America. You elected people who would let you do any evil thing your heart imagines without restraint. Now they are doing every evil thing their heart imagines without restraint.

Actually about America:

Sort of.

Say what?

Exactly what was the point of this list? That you Googled and found 50 songs with America in the lyrics? Good for you.

Roger is simply one of the best songwriters and performers of all time! Me as a musician, I feel so inspired by his music and the way he composes his songs! Living legend!

How in the blue he!! do you have that Cretin Jay-Z on this list and NOT have God Bless the USA by Lee Greenwood?!?!?

@RickHunter My thoughts exactly.  Some of the songs have America in the title but are not 'about' America yet one of the great songs about America is left off the list.

Great song of Roger Hodgson song, perfectly captures the feeling of "Independence Day" without a doubt, a great choice of one of the greatest talents in the history of music.

We only need to read the chronicles of their live concerts and listen to the public who attend these. Roger is currently presenting his "Breakfast in America" Tour 2013 around the world, surely you will pass very close to where you live.

Do not miss this great opportunity to enjoy live, the legendary songs of this great artist, composer of the greatest hits of Supertramp, and wonderful songs from his solo career. "Take the Long Way Home", "Dreamer", "Give a Little Bit", "Breakfast in America", "Hide in Your Shell" ... and many more, his repertoire is full of great global hits.

If you're still a "dreamer", Roger Hodgson will turn your dreams into reality ...

Grateful Dead "U.S. Blues" not on this list?  "Wave that flag, wave it wide and high!"

Roger Hodgson has done so many classics hits that are timeless and we still here them on the radio today. If you get a change to see Roger play, you will feel uplifted and walk away knowing you just saw the best concert . the spirit of the music talks to you soul. Roger will be in So Cal on August 11, 2013. Hope to see you there

I was eleven when Roger Hodgson wrote this song. I listened in the radio,  millions and millions times; and in my childhood in a city near Buenos Aires,  I used to dream with California, and Texas, and make the suitcase and take a jumbo across the waters... Really Roger make me fly.

Wonderful video but if you see Roger today, in 2013, with Aaron Mc Donald or his band, he sounds still better. Also, the ambiance is still better. It's incredible, but it's true! Roger's voice is so powerful, clear and beautiful this year and the complicity between his audience and himself grows every show, everywhere around the world. Unlike many other legends that do the shows because their past glory and their name, Roger  Hodgson rejuvenates on stage...and bring the joy

I absolutely LOVE this song, "Breakfast in America" from Supertramp co-founder Roger Hodgson.   I bought this album the day it was released back in 1979 and even today when I hear this song on the radio in the car, I am dancing in my seat.    Roger is currently on his worldwide Breakfast in America Tour and I had the great privilege to see him and his incredible band twice in the past few months.   Absolutely the best concerts I have ever been to and you name them, I've seen them!

What a voice!  Roger sounds even better today than on my Supertramp vinyls and the warmth he shares with his audience is unlike anything I have ever seen with any artist.  It was such a thrill for me to see Roger perform his songs that I have loved for years to include not only Breakfast in America, but also The Logical Song, Take the Long Way Home, Give a Little Bit, Dreamer, and so many more!  A bit of trivia - many people don't realize that although Roger and Supertramp's other co-founder shared writing credit, they actually wrote and composed separately with each singing their own songs.

I can't wait to see Roger in concert again and I am already planning a road trip for later this summer to see him in Atlanta at the Botanical Garden on August 18.    See all of his tour dates on Events at    Give yourself a much deserved gift and see Roger Hodgson in concert!
