The Pixies may have recently lost founding member Kim Deal, but that hasn’t stopped them from turning out some new music. The iconic alt-rockers have kept quiet for nearly a decade, and have finally broken the silence with their brand new song, “Bagboy.”
The track, complete with a characteristically bizarre music video, marks the band’s first release since 2004’s “Bam Thwok.” This seems to lend credence to the rumors of a new studio album that have been floating around for the past few months, but nothing’s official yet.

“Bagboy” isn’t exactly an ultra-new creation, though. Frontman Black Francis said in a press release that the music itself has been around for a few years, developed over time in conjunction with a not-yet-realized film idea. The lyrics, however, were written at a Harvard Square Starbucks. Though it may sound like Kim singing in the background, Francis confirmed that it’s actually his friend Jeremy Dubs.
