Stop me if you’ve heard this one: Leonardo DiCaprio is in a big-name-director’s movie about a super rich guy playing loose with ethics in a time of excess in New York City and Long Island. It may sound like The Great Gatsby, but it’s The Wolf of Wall Street.
Wolf, directed by Martin Scorsese, stars DiCaprio—alongside Jon Favreau, Jonah Hill, Matthew McConaughey and others—as Jordan Belfort, the real-life stockbroker who wrote the 2008 memoir on which the movie is based. Belfort’s book told the story of what it was like to work in finance in the 1990s, amid massive profits and even bigger parties…and what it was like to have the SEC and FBI figure out that not everything you’re doing is on the up and up. (Belfort ended up in jail—though he’s now back in the business world.)
And there’s a chimpanzee.
