As the Stones’ “50 and Counting” tour rolls on, the aging rockers have already racked up an impressive list of special guests. At Sunday night’s show in Montreal, they added another, after Arcade Fire frontman Win Butler took the stage to assist Keith, Mick and the rest of the crew with guitar and vocals on their 1965 song “The Last Time.”

Standing roughly six-foot-four-inches, the Montreal-based indie rocker towered over his English counterparts — but he still fit in, of course, and in fact, seemed totally in his element. He strutted around the stage rather effortlessly and Jagger-ishly that it’s safe to assume he practiced in front of a mirror beforehand.
Other special guests on the “50” tour have included Katy Perry on “Beast of Burden,” Tom Waits on “Little Red Rooster,” Taylor Swift on “As Tears Go By” and Dave Grohl on “Bitch.”
We should all take a moment to appreciate how lucky we are that Butler could fit this gig into his schedule. For starters, he’s a new dad, and he and his band are working on their follow-up to their 2010 Album of the Year, The Suburbs. The official release date hasn’t been announced, but it’s expected sometime later this year.
