To celebrate the first day of principal photography of the project unofficially known as Transformers 4 (or, The Transformers Movie That Doesn’t Have Shia LaBeouf), director Michael Bay released these photos on his website. He writes:
As guests of the Navajo Nation, we took a convoy of brand new, re-envisioned and remodeled Autobots out for a spin down Highway 163 in Monument Valley near the border of Arizona and Utah.
The first ‘Bot is the “completely upgraded, custom-built Optimus Prime”:
The second is a “1,200-horsepower Bugatti Grand Sport Vitesse” — valued, he helpfully notes, at more than $2.4 million:
Rounding out this trio of cars — er, robo-vehicles, is a “a special race-inspired C7 Corvette Stingray”:
Transformers fans — we know you’re out there — what do you think of these “re-envisioned” Autobots? Bold new direction? Or were you hoping for something more radical?
