Well, this just warms our TV-loving hearts. In the latest episode of Mad Men, the show’s writers gave a little shout-out to the recently (sob!) defunct 30 Rock.

In the episode, Ted (played by Kevin Rahm) an adman with a rival agency, meets his counterparts at Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce in a bar following a pitch meeting. He orders an “Old Spanish,” a mixed drink that heretofore existed only in the 30 Rock universe. We’re introduced to the cocktail by Cooter Burger (played by Matthew Broderick) in a season 7 episode called “Governor Dunston.” Cooter tells Jack (Alec Baldwin) that it’s comprised of red wine, tonic water and olives. Yum.

As Vulture points out30 Rock writer Tracey Wigfield noticed the very subtle reference and shared it on Twitter:

And then, naturally, the Internet got really excited. The playful allusion makes sense, though, as the two shows have shared some love in the past. In 30 Rock’s finale, for example, protagonist Liz Lemon (Tina Fey) shouts to Jack, as he appears to be poised to commit suicide, “There’s so much to live for! Don’t you want to know how Mad Men ends?” In an earlier episode, Liz’s mother had told her, “It wasn’t that simple, Liz. I had just graduated from secretarial school and I got a job at Sterling Cooper.” And who can forget Mad Men star Jon Hamm’s awesome portrayal of Liz’s dreamboat-klutz boyfriend, Dr. Drew Baird?

With 30 Rock over, we’re just grateful it can live on through another popular show. In fact, we’re so giddy, we could start lizzing.
