The conceit is simple enough: Adam Sandler and the Grown Ups guys—Kevin James, Chris Rock and David Spade—move back to their hometown and then a large male deer pees on Sandler. Also, it’s the last day of school. And they do embarrassing swimming-hole naked belly flops in front of lots of good-looking young folks.
In other words, if you saw 2010’s Grown Ups, you won’t be surprised—and if you liked Grown Ups (and plenty of people did, leading the movie to gross $271 million worldwide despite negative reviews) you’ll probably like Grown Ups 2.
(Unless your favorite Grown Up was Rob Schneider, who is mysteriously missing from the sequel. On the other hand, Shaquille O’Neal is in this one. You win some; you lose some.)
Grown Ups 2 is due in theaters July 12, 2013.
