Almost exactly a year ago, the tumblr blog Tilda Stardust debuted with a single pair of images and a simple concept: doesn’t Tilda Swinton look like David Bowie? Could they possibly be one person?

Now, the blog’s author has received the ultimate answer: the newly released (NSFW) video for Bowie’s track “The Stars (Are Out Tonight)” pairs Bowie and Swinton as a suburban couple tormented by celebrities, played by models Andrej Pejic and Saskia De Brauw. Who also, it so happens, sort of look like David Bowie and Tilda Swinton. The clip, directed by Floria Sigismondi (who also did Bowie’s videos for “Little Wonder” and “Dead Man Walking”) is about capturing “a twenty first century moment in its convergence of age, gender and the normal/celebrity divide,” according to Bowie’s official Facebook page.

And, spoiler alert, Swinton and Bowie appear at the end of the video in matching outfits and expressions. They’re not the same person, unless that’s some serious CGI, but they do look alike.

Vulture suggests that perhaps Bowie took a look at the Tilda Stardust blog, but the blog’s author seems clearly surprised by the result. Today’s entry is simple: “wow Floria Sigismondi, just wow.”
