What a sick world that is, where music can be outlawed, denigrated, suffocated. Keep the faith, Mali musicians! The civilized world is behind you. Funny, we take music for granted in the U.S., allowing some of our schools to squeeze it out of the curriculum. But music is the greatest symbol of freedom that we have, the best reflection of our culture, the most accessible view of history, the greatest means of coming together, of organizing, of therapy and personal happiness. It is one of the most important subjects in our curriculum. More respect should be given to music education all over the world. Yes, I may be biased, but I don't think I'm wrong.
