Michael Haneke will win best director because is movie was far beyond superb than any movie released last year. Ang Lee's movie life of pi was second best. All the other movies aren't worthy of winning anything at all. IMO

Hey what happened to the best supporting actors in your article on the oscars - did you find the choice to difficult?

Oscar nominations for the lullaby song in "Life of Pi"  under the original song category has created  a controversy in India. The nominations are for M.Danna for composing and Ms.Jaishri Ramnath (India) for the lyrics. Ms.Jaishri is an accomplished Indian classical singer, but not  a lyricist. The contention is that the lyrics are not original and heavily influenced by another song. The twist is that Ms.Jaishri had sung the "original song" in one of her albums. The composer  M.Danna had heard that song and approached her for the "Life of Pi" song.

I agree: Hathaway, Day-Lewis, Chastain. As Bigelow isn't nominated (a great Oscar blunder), ZERO DARK THIRTY will be bypassed by LINCOLN and Spielberg.

Wasn't Gloria Stewart the oldest nominee in an acting category for her role as Old Rose in Titanic? She was 87.

And once again, because Peter Jackson used performance-capture technology, Andy Serkis gets screwed because his acting wasn't "pure" — unlike everyone else in the Best Supporting Actor category, whose performances were only enhanced by costuming, make-up, lighting, dialog coaches, personal trainers, directing, sound editing, and retakes.

Did I miss something?

Please explain why Jamie Foxx was not nominated for an Oscar in DJango and yet the movie is up for several awards. How is that Denzel won for Training Day? In case you missed it ... The Black man killing White slave owners vs. the Black man killing his own race.

Best Picture - I think not.

Best wishes to Christoph Waltz.

Though a lot of the nominations were unsurprising, I was
shocked at some of the Best Director snubs. A coworker at DISH and I are huge
movie buffs, so we both assumed Ben Affleck would be an obvious nomination. Now
that he was taken out, it will be interesting to see if Lincoln has what it
takes to win. I am so glad that with all of the awards ceremonies approaching,
that my DISH Hopper has 2,000 hours of storage space. With my late work
schedule, I always make sure to program it to record all of the shows I watch.
I love never having to miss a show, and it being able to fast forward through commercials
on my recordings is a plus. Watching the awards season has been a tradition in
my family for years, so I can’t wait to see who walks away a winner this year.

I was originally going to say Lawrence, but winning an Oscar, unless you're Tom Hanks, completely derails your career. And I want Lawrence to have a long and healthy one.

The name of the movie that gave Ben Affleck his Oscar, in 1998, is Good WILL Hunting.

It looks like most of the ocars went to people who were on HBO.  A lot of us cannot afford HBO so we have no idea about their performances. I was bery disappointed that the actress nominated for an oscar on The Good Wife was ignored.   I saw nothing in the lady show is in a drama on HBO

Is HBO getting all the awards now? Interesting
