EVENTS UNFOLD OVER… Morning (7:06 a.m., to be precise) to afternoon (4 p.m.) on a Saturday in September
WHAT HAPPENS DURING THIS TIME: Five students of various social strata—from jock to nerd—bicker, dance and bond while spending a weekend detention in a high-school library (that looks a lot nicer than the one at the college we went to).
(APPROXIMATE) TIME THAT PASSES: Including the scenes we see of the kids arriving at, and finally leaving, the school, let’s say: 9 HOURS
SEMI-RELEVANT FACTOID: The movie’s interior shots were filmed at Maine North High School in Des Plaines, Illinois—which had been abandoned, due to declining enrollments—a few years earlier. The library, we’re strangely gratified to find out, was a huge set constructed in the gymnasium.
