Jackman stars in Les Miz as Jean Valjean, he of the major numbers “Who Am I?” and “Bring Him Home.” An actor’s got to have a major voice for the role—and Jackman’s past work is plenty of evidence that he’ll be able to pull it off. As seen in this stage version of Oklahoma!, the man can do a Broadway classic justice.
I'd take the role of Eponine over Cosette's any day! Why is there no mention of Eddie Redmayne as Marius? His voice is quite beautiful.
I think the film is an ok rendering of the play. It's the people on youtube who say that Anne Hathaway's performance is much more heartfelt and vocally superior to Lea Salonga's that pisses me off, truly.
What?!? No young, Broadway obsessed girl longs to play Cosette. They all long to play Eponine. There is no "juiciness" to this role. That said, Amanda Seyfried played it sweetly and fine.
