Amanda Seyfried plays this Les Miz‘s Cosette, a role every young Broadway-obsessed girl craves. But, despite the juiciness of the part, two of the best ingenue songs in the show go to other actresses: Young Cosette gets “Castle on a Cloud” and Eponine has “On My Own” (a great song, though nobody can top Joey Potter‘s rendition), leaving Cosette with songs like “A Heart Full of Love.” Seyfried has shown that she can sing, with movies like Mamma Mia!, and that she knows it, by randomly busting out her voice during TV and movie scenes. She’s a good fit for Cosette, but it definitely won’t be the most vocally exciting part of the movie.
