R.E.M. may have broken up in September 2011, but the American rock band is out with a new music video for “Blue,” a track from the band’s final album Collapse Into Now (2011). Directed by Oscar-nominated actor James Franco, the video is a somber take on glitzy Los Angeles, with blurry scenes of the Hollywood nightlife. It features vocals by Patti Smith and R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, and at one point, Lindsay Lohan poses for fashion photographer Terry Richardson. Franco was one of the stars who collaborated with the band on the Collapse Into Now Film Project, a series of films to correspond with the album’s tracks.
