The Spy Who Loved Me is by far the best Bond opening.

Also important to note that the in the Spy Who Loved Me stunt, the ski hits the parachute as it's being deployed, could have easily died had that ski got caught up in it. Obviously, this is the best opening scene and the best use of the theme music.

Great article, not only because I agree with most of it (Goldeneye just shades it for me) but it's accurate and genuinely funny too. Nice one.

Bond did not repack his parachute — that is usually a long, drawn-out process involving carefully straightening of the canopy and shroud lines, folding, and finally replacing it into the backpack — in "The Living Daylights".  I believe he was still wearing his front-mounted reserve chute, and used that instead.

I have one quibble with an otherwise outstanding opening. Note that when Bond arrives at the facility there is no snow to be found. However, by the time he makes his escape, it is practically a winter wonderland. Looks like a continuity problem, unless it snowed quite a bit while Bond was in the facility. I don't believe he was in there that long.

Hey Tim... You forgot "The Living Daylights" with its Gibraltar opening, and a hapless henchman death scene.  Or did you dislike it that much?

@MikeDonfield You're right! Somehow that dropped off the list. It's back in now. (Agree on the verdict: awesome parachute jump, hapless henchman.)
