The actual Presidential election has some almost-competition for the title of This Week’s Most Important Executive Branch News.

The runner-up? Entertainment Weekly reports that Vice President Joe Biden will appear in a cameo on an upcoming episode of Parks and Recreation. On the Nov. 15 episode, Ben (Adam Soctt) takes Leslie (Amy Poehler) to meet her political crush. It’s the crowning achievement of a D.C.-centric season that has featured cameos by politicians from John McCain to Barbara Boxer.

The non-election-related cameo was filmed in July—and, despite the Vice President’s busy schedule, EW reports that the organizational logistics of the shoot were easier than expected. The difficulties came after the scene was filmed:

…the process of landing Biden was “so much less difficult than we ever possibly imagined,” says [executive producer Michael] Schur, noting: “His staff really loves the show, and he apparently had watched the show with his family and his family liked it… The hardest part was keeping it secret for so long because there’s all these FEC rules and equal-time rules. We couldn’t air it before the election because it was the equivalent of a campaign contribution to advertise for one candidate.”

The scene may be short but viewers of the episode next week can expect to be treated to a line improvised by the Vice President himself. (Or don’t wait till then: EW has a quick sneak peek at the scene at the link above.)
