Do you eat up every episode of HBO’s True Blood? The show’s cookbook, True Blood: Eats, Drinks, and Bites from Bon Temps, hits shelves September 5th, but Chronicle Books has shared a few of its 85 recipes with us so that you can get a vampire fix. The show’s creator Alan Ball and associate producer Gianna Sobol wrote the book of recipes “by” the characters, with the help of Karen Sommer Shalett, editor-in-chief of DC magazine and former Times-Picayune staff writer. As Ball (a native of Marietta, Georgia) says in the book trailer above, True Blood is not only about “the terrors of intimacy,” but also about “the nature of desire, and hunger and thirst are a kind of desire.”
Ball himself grew up in a family that cooked all the time. In the trailer above, he says his mother made some unique desserts, like canned pears with “a big dollop of Miracle Whip” and shredded Kraft American Cheese.
Sounds like enough to scare away any vampire…
