Tuned In

Programming Note: Out of the Office, and Out at the Upfronts

I’m going to be away with the Tuned In family for a long weekend through Monday night, so I’m going to miss the first day of Upfronts Week, in which the major networks (on Monday, NBC and Fox) announce their fall schedules for advertisers. Fortunately, NBC and Fox have obliged me by announcing many of their fall pickups early. I wrote a bit the other day on some of NBC’s decisions; among the new series at Fox are three comedies, including Mindy Kaling’s, which stars the Office actress-writer as an OB/GYN.

I’ll be back Tuesday, in time to keep and eye on scheduling news from ABC, CBS and The CW (some other networks, like the Turner cable family, are also piggybacking on Upfronts Week). And with all that new-show news, of course, come the less-celebrated network cancellations. (One bit of happy news on that front: Cougar Town is leaving ABC, but will move to TBS next year.) Until Tuesday, you’ll have to get my reactions by following me on Twitter. Or just listen very, very carefully for my screams.
