It’s a minor and deservedly overlooked film from both star John Candy and screenwriter John Hughes, but The Great Outdoors does have this somewhat amusing scene involving the star’s attempt to consume the “a 96-ounce prime aged-beef steak” — and earn his crowded table a free meal. The editing and choice of music are suspect, but ya gotta love Candy’s meat sweats and the gurgling distress that Dan Ackroyd hears beneath his friend’s ample stomach.
INTERESTING FACT: The film marked the feature-film debut of Annette Bening.
