HBO has given an April start date for the second season of Game of Thrones, and this new promo video, which aired last night before Boardwalk Empire, offers a peek at how the series’ world will expand in the sophomore season, based on the second A Song of Ice and Fire novel, A Clash of Kings. Among the glimpses: the late King Robert’s brothers, Stannis and Renly, who will be joining the power struggle in Westeros, Stannis’ fiery-haired mystic counsel Melisandre and an on-the-run Arya Stark, among many, many others.

Per usual, I’m asking those who have read the books to refrain from plot spoilers, but how do the visualizations so far—for instance, the baroque battlements of Stannis’ stronghold Dragonstone—mesh with your imagination, and with season one of the series?
