We know, we know, again with the small towns and the quarantines. When a monkey spreads an Ebola-like virus after finding its way to the United States, the government imprisons a town of California residents. Luckily, a group of CDC and military doctors (led by Dustin Hoffman and Rene Russo) are more than ready to defy their orders in pursuit of both the animal and a cure. Now, according to the standards by which great movies are judged, Outbreak falls far short. Yet, there’s a pulpy enjoyment to be had with the film, which is full of loud monologues and helicopters and missiles and other such action film ridiculousness.
