Cher and company have perfected the art of the excuse as they deftly justify anything and everything. From getting out of class (“I was surfing the crimson wave. I had to haul ass to the ladies’”) to missing a curfew (“A watch doesn’t really go with this outfit, Daddy”) or getting a bad grade (“Some teachers are trying to lowball me, Daddy. And I know how you say, ‘Never accept a first offer,’ so I figure these grades are just a jumping-off point to start negotiations”), there is always an explanation for any situation. This movie has taught us that it doesn’t matter how ridiculous your excuse, if your delivery is confident or your argument twisted enough, you can get away with just about anything.
