The Morning After: Faerie Tale

HBO’s True Blood returned last night with a season four premiere that expanded further on the show’s sexy-magic Southern gothic world: a little witchcraft, a little more vampire politics and a visit with Sookie to a Faerie world/prison that looked a bit like the world’s cheesiest gallery opening party. True Blood lost me after its second season, as the stories of its central characters, especially Sookie and Bill, grew strained and less compelling, and to my eyes the immediate comparison to HBO’s new (albeit very different in setting and tone) fantasy Game of Thrones did it no favors. But I will give it up to Lafayette for his new mohawk, and I know that some Tuned Inlanders still enjoy the show as a summer good time, so I’ll turn it over to you: was the premiere magical for you?
