MSNBC Suspends Ed Schultz Over "Slut" Comment

Having recently parted ways with Keith Olbermann, whose controversies and run-ins with management proved too much for the channel, MSNBC now has an Ed Schultz problem. The cable network suspended the evening host for a week after he called conservative commentator Laura Ingraham a “right-wing slut” Tuesday on his radio show. Schultz apologized for the remarks—made while responding to critics of President Obama’s overseas trip—but as Jeff Bercovici notes, they’re just the latest and most egregious in a string of angry outbursts that have gotten MSNBC’s current gasket-blower-in-chief in trouble.

Ironically, today on Morning Joe—which was still running Schultz’s “Lean Forward” promotional spots—Mika Brzezinski was hosting a “Knowing Your Value” special about women’s worth and challenges in the workplace. That’s a full-service cable-channel for you: providing both the problem and the diagnosis!
