The Killing / AMC

While I shiver at my desk and another snowstorm practices on the South before heading up the East Coast, my TV critic brethren are still sitting through hours of TV executive presentations at the TCA press tour. Who has it worse? You be the judge! Over the weekend, the people-who-write-about-TV heard from the remaining cable networks–including a busy AMC and HBO–and PBS. Select headlines:

* AMC set a date for the much-anticipated murder serial, The Killing: April 3.

* AMC didn’t set a date for the much-much-anticipated season 5 of Mad Men—and its schedule is getting crowded—but assures us that it’s coming. (The show does not have an official pickup, but it’s become par for the course for its negotiations to take until the 11th hour.)

* HBO set a premiere date for its much-much-much-anticipated Game of Thrones (April 17), and screened about 15 minutes of it in an extended trailer. I’ll be seeing a version soon and will let you know what I think of it. In the meantime, here’s a breakdown from longtime GoT-tracker Maureen Ryan (who also spoke to the producers, author George R. R. Martin and costar Emilia Clarke). Also: Kate Winslet and Pee-wee Herman, (kind of) together at last.

* The Dude (Jeff Bridges) and other interesting people abided at PBS’s sessions. Todd Van der Werff tells you all about it.
