Though graphics are nothing compared to the horror games of today, we still got a rush of fear when the white creatures came closer to our boundary and felt our palms grow sweaty as we tried to defend ourselves from the attack. Space Invaders was one of the first shooters that we ever played and was so immensely popular that it temporarily caused a shortage of 100-yen coins in Japan. There was nothing more satisfying that shooting those characters one by one. Well, except for that rare occasion that you saw that spaceship on the screen that gave you tons of points, and you did everything in your power to try to bring it down. It’s still in pop culture today, with fan videos still being made to commemorate the game.
