My Weekend: Al Roker, My Running Buddy

As I’ve mentioned here before, I’ll be running the New York Marathon this Sunday (televised, not that you’ll be able to see me, on NBC). If you ever have the chance and inclination to do it, it’s a great experience. It’s honestly touching how thousands of New Yorkers throng almost the entire course to cheer on complete strangers, even, or especially, nonathletes like me. (I’ll be happy if I break four hours. And reasonably satisfied if I just finish alive.)

But if that isn’t enough to interest you in the event, the list of celebrities running the 26.2 miles through five boroughs this year include such TV folks as Al Roker, Ethan Zohn from Survivor Africa, Kirk Acevedo, Anthony Edwards and Jared from the Subway ads. My entirely uninformed guess: we all end up eating Ethan’s dust.
